Altai Language and Culture Club «Sen le Men»

Description: «Sen le Men» is translated from the Altai language as «You and I». One of the most picturesque corners of Russia, Altai borders three countries –Kazakhstan, China and Mongolia. It is not only a popular tourist destination, but also a crossroads of cultures. At the club meetings, participants will discuss the events of the region's history, learn about the ancient traditions that shaped its culture, and learn the basics of the Altai language. Discussions will cover a wide range of topics from folklore and music to handicrafts and culinary traditions. Both Russian and English can be used at the club, so everyone has a chance to participate.

Moderator:

Alina Surkasheva is a medical student at the Siberian State Medical University. She has been attending the language clubs at the TSU Research Library for several years. She likes the informal atmosphere, the opportunity to listen to different languages at the same time and make friends. All this inspired Alina to set up the «Sen le Men» club and share her cultural experience.
