Want to speak Urdu? Join our new language club Pakistan House
Pakistan House is a new language club that starts at the International Resource Center of the TSU Research Library. The meetings will be held on Fridays at 17:00 in the English Reading Room. The club’s participants will learn about the history and culture of Pakistan and also will study the Urdu language. Registration is required. Pakistan’s ancient and modern history, its rich culture, the diversity of traditions and customs of its peoples, the biographies of famous people will be among the club’s key topics. The meetings will be conducted in English and Urdu, the official languages of Pakistan. The participants will study Urdu on the basis of literature, primarily poetry. Abdul Samad, the club’s moderator, is currently enrolled at the TSU Faculty of Pre-University Training. Afterwards, he is going to pursue a master’s degree. Abdul is a graduate of the Federal Urdu University of Arts, Sciences & Technology (FUUAST, Karachi) with a degree in International relations. He is fluent in English and Urdu. He worked as the President of Students' Action League (SAL), participated in several national and international conferences as an organizer, coordinator, presenter and volunteer. Recently, he presented a paper titled "Building bridges not walls: Pakistan's approach to solving border disputes with its neighbors" at the Inter-Universities Young Scholars Research Conference 2024 organized by DHA Suffa University, Karachi. He completed internships at the Institute of Policy Studies (Pakistan), at the Eberswalde University for Sustainable Development (Germany), and at the public diplomacy center Lincoln Corner (Pakistan American Culture Centre, Karachi), where he conducted one of the sessions on the topic "How to Discover Yourself?". He is also the author of research articles. Abdul is an academic collaborator and a member of the advisory board of the 1st bilingual students' e-magazine named “Politico Vista”.
