Speak-dating, a multilingual conversation marathon, will take place on November 17 from 18:00 to 20:20 in the Reading Room 3 of the TSU Research Library.

Moderator: Sebastjan Jemec.

Language proficiency level: B1 and above.

“Speak-Dating is organized by the International Resource Center of the Research Library together with the TSU International Division. Such format implies switching conversation partners in certain periods of time,” explained Elena Tsukanova, Head of the TSU International Resource Center. “This is already third marathon. The participants indicate what languages they speak by attaching stickers displaying flags of different countries, thus they determine what language to speak when switching partners. At the previous marathon in May seven languages were available: English, German, French, Spanish, Italian, Chinese, and Russian as a foreign language. At the upcoming marathon two more languages – Arabic and Indonesian – will be added.”

Questions for each round cover a variety of topics: traditions, art, valuables and artifacts, languages and cultures, transport, shops, symbols, money, holidays, etc.
