International Games Month in TSU Research Library
International Games Month is the initiative observed at libraries all over the world in November. The TSU Research Library is no exception. We have prepared a rich program for all: researchers and students, real geeks and beginners. An exhibition, a book club, a Big Games Party, a tournament, special meetings of language clubs – games are presented in a variety of forms. And everyone can choose their own way to participate: watch, listen, discuss, or play. Registration is required for all the events of the International Games Month in the Library, except for the exhibition and the Russian speaking club. On November 7, the exhibition «Games of the past and present» opens, featuring amazing games from different historical periods. Replicas of playing cards of the 17th century, toy books, unusual formats of board games of the 20th century were carefully selected from the library's collections by the staff of the TSU RL Department of Rare Books and Manuscripts. Non-standard modern board games are also presented, including the game MicroMacro, in which you can solve a mysterious crime in a few minutes. The exhibition is located on the second floor of the New Building, in the lobby in front of the Circulation Desk, and will be available until November 30 during the library opening hours. Registration is not required. On November 8, the reading club in the Pushkin Museum Cabinet will start immersion into the theme of the month. We will discuss the book «Homo ludens» by Johan Huizinga and the role of games in our life with Eres Manchyn, co-host of the blog about board games Dicefest , author of the telegram channel Ready-Steady#GO, and TSU RL staff member. The meeting will start at 18:30. Registration is required. On November 9, Big Game Day, the main event of the month, will take place in Reading Room 3. The Games Party and the tournament will bring you new impressions, meetings and discoveries. And it doesn’t matter at all whether you have a gaming experience or not. Experienced players will help, guide and prompt you. From 12:00 to 18:00 there will be the Big Games Party under support of the board games store «Znaem Igraem». A variety of board games will be presented. A quick round in Similo or a thoughtful acquaintance with The Gallerist by the legendary Vital Lacerda? Or maybe acquaintance with the deluxe version of the immersive, not strictly historical game Three Men in the Mountains besides Alice? Choose to your taste, but don't forget to register in advance. At 13:00 the tournament on the strategic game Mixed Forest from the «Stil' zhizni» publishing house will start. We are waiting for experts, experienced players and, of course, beginners. Registration is required . November 7 – 13, special meetings of language speaking clubs devoted to games will be held:
